August has started off with a bang! Shark fishing has been phenomenal! Plenty of action and lots of excitement. The Fish Nerds contest winner caught a feisty 7' 2" Mako with a very impressive set of teeth. Shark fishing should stay good through September. Book early and book often!
The giant bluefin tuna have finally started to chew on baits. The boys from down east landed a beautiful 104" that dressed around 400 pounds. Talk about a fish of a lifetime!
Cod & Haddock fishing remains steady. With plenty of nice Pollock mixed in and even a Halibut kicked in for good measure!
Be sure to keep a eye on our Facebook page for some upcoming contests. Could be a give away or two coming soon!
Summer is finally here! It's been a late start with cold water temps everything seems to be slightly late. The Cod & Haddock fishing is slowly starting to pick up. With average landings. I won't be surprised to see better fishing in the next week as there are some bigger Pollock starting to show up.
The Bluefin Tuna fishing will start heating up any second. Harpoon boats have been having a fantastic year so far, and there is a massive biomass of bait to keep the Tuna here. We'll be heading offshore after them as soon as Sunday.
We'll start half day Striped Bass fishing this week. Follow our Facebook page F/V Miss Megan II for daily reports and photos.
It would seem spring has finally arrived. As usual it's crunch time getting the boat ready for launching. This should be a fantastic spring for ground fishing! Water temps are cold and cold water holds fish shallow The Cod and Haddock gear is ready. We'll be heading out opening day with new gear from Fin-Nor. Fully spooled with Fins braided spectra.
Last winters snow will be melting for a good while (last week still saw snow depth in the Saco river valley over 4' in some places) this creates a abundance of nutrients offshore. This will have a ripple effect through all our fisheries. Big game fishing especially! I fully expect to have a great season. Book before June 1st to receive a $100.00 discount on a full day charter.
My recent fishing trip to Texas. Out of a couple hundred pictures this is the only one not blurry. The OozzieJig & BioEdge Fishing Products worked great on Amber jacks. King fish and Mackerel. I really put a hurting on the fish with my new Fin-Nor Marquesa loaded with FINS fishing 40 pound braided spectra.
